Help This Shepherd Be A Lamb
Written by Billy Smiley for
the cantata "I Am." -- Created
and arranged by David T. Clydesdale
I am here all alone praying to you on my
knees. Not my will but your
own may this cup be taken
from me. Yet I know the time
has come the final sacrifice
your only son. Help this shepherd be
a lamb the sacrifice for
mortal man. Help this shepherd be
a lamb that must be slain to
bring life once again. How can I bear the sins
of all? Father, will you
intercede? Must the sacrifice be
me? Once again I hear my
call. I can feel the agony, the weight of all the
sin that’s placed on me. Help this shepherd be
a lamb the sacrifice, for
mortal man. Help this shepherd be
a lamb that must be slain to
bring life once again. Help this shepherd be
a lamb.
And they went to a place
called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit
here while I pray.”
And he took with him Peter
and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled.
And he said to them,
“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here
and watch.”
And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it
were possible, the hour might pass from him.
And he said,
“Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove
this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:32-36
